Orlando to Tampa is roughly 85 miles on I-4, and the drive usually takes 70 to 90 minutes.
On a Friday afternoon, in a downpour or after a crash on I-4, it can take much longer. If you are heading for a flight or a cruise, leave with room to spare.
We run private transfers between Orlando and Tampa in the Full-Size Black SUV. There is no list price for this route because it depends on the pickup point, the destination and the time, so we quote a flat rate before you book, on WhatsApp, in English or Spanish.
We leave out third-party prices because they change with the date and demand. This is what to compare.
| Bus | Rental car | Uber or taxi | Private SUV with chauffeur | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| How it works | A ticket per person from an Orlando station to a Tampa one | Daily rate plus insurance, gas and tolls | The price comes from the app or the meter and can rise with demand | Flat rate per vehicle, agreed before you book |
| Where you start | The station, which is almost never next to your hotel | Wherever you pick up and return the car | Your hotel or home | Your hotel, home or MCO airport |
| Where you end | A station in Tampa, then another ride | Hotel, airport or port | Wherever you ask | Straight to TPA, the port, Busch Gardens or Clearwater |
| Bags and kids | Limits per passenger | Depends on the car you rent | Depends on the car assigned | Up to 6 bags in the Full-Size Black SUV |
| Who it suits | Solo travelers in no hurry | Anyone who wants to drive the Gulf coast | Short trips with no planning | Families, groups, flights and cruises with a fixed time |
Check schedules and fares on each company's site, for example Greyhound or FlixBus. Rome2Rio and Skyscanner help compare options, though they do not include our service.
Each one changes your departure time and route.
The most requested destination. Send us your flight time and airline so we can work out when to leave, and check terminals and flight status on the Tampa International Airport website. For international flights, leave with more room.
Cruise lines ask you to reach the port inside a boarding window. Tell us your cruise line and the boarding time on your ticket. Terminal details are on the Port Tampa Bay website.
You get there by I-4 and I-75. Book a round trip, or an hourly chauffeur if you want us to wait for you. Tickets and park hours are on the Busch Gardens Tampa Bay website.
Beach destinations about 30 to 45 minutes from Tampa. Count on heavy traffic on weekends and in high season.
Send us the address and the time you prefer. We coordinate the rest on WhatsApp.
If your destination is not here, ask us. We quote any address in the area.
Landing at Tampa International (TPA) and sleeping at Disney, Universal or a Kissimmee vacation home is more common than people expect, usually because the fare was better. The drive follows the same I-4 corridor as Orlando to Tampa, so allow about the same time, plus the wait at baggage claim.
We can meet you at TPA and drive you to your hotel or rental home in the Orlando area. Send us your flight number, and if the flight runs late, message us and we adjust the pickup time. Compare this with the Orlando side of the trip on our Orlando airport ground transportation guide.
Orlando's local public transit (Lynx) does not reach Tampa. For that trip there are intercity buses, like Greyhound or FlixBus, plus rideshare and private cars.
Intercity buses usually leave from fixed terminals, on limited schedules, and almost never stop next to your hotel. Check the day's schedule before you plan, because it can change. If you have bags, small kids or a flight you cannot miss, that setup gets hard.
To get around Orlando itself without a car, read our guide to getting around Orlando without a car. If you would rather drive yourself, compare a rental car and a private car.
Tell us the date, where you start, where you are going in Tampa, how many people and how many bags.
We work out the departure time with room for I-4 traffic.
We quote the rate before you book. It is per vehicle, not per person.
Same-day we try, but availability is not guaranteed.
If your plans change, cancel up to 12 hours ahead for a full refund. After that a 50% partial refund applies.

Miami to Tampa is about 280 miles, and the drive takes close to four and a half hours.
If you are traveling from Miami and want to stop in Orlando before heading on to Tampa, we can build the trip in legs. Tell us your plan in a message. For the first leg, see how to get from Miami to Orlando.
And if your trip heads east, toward the Space Coast beaches, see Orlando to Cocoa Beach. For rates inside Orlando, here are our rates.
About 85 miles on I-4. The drive usually takes between an hour and ten minutes and an hour and a half, depending on traffic. If you leave at rush hour or in heavy rain, allow more room, especially if you have a flight.
As far as we know there is no direct passenger train between the two cities. SunRail and Lynx are Orlando-area services and do not reach Tampa, so the shared option for this trip is the bus. Check Brightline's website in case a new route has been announced.
Inside Orlando there are Lynx buses and SunRail, but neither takes you to Tampa. For that trip you have intercity buses, a rental car, Uber or a private chauffeur. Check each one's schedule before you plan.
Bus prices change by date and company, so we do not put a number here. Look at Greyhound, FlixBus or search sites like Rome2Rio. If you prefer not to depend on a station, we give you a flat rate before you book.
